北京时间7月21日，据意大利记者斯基拉消息，比利时足协已与范博梅尔展开谈判，提供两年的合同。
该记者表示：“比利时足协已与范博梅尔开启谈判，邀请其出任比利时国家队主教练一职，比利时足协向他提供一份至2028年欧洲杯到期的执教合同。”
现年49岁的范博梅尔于2013年退役，退役后曾担任过沙特、澳大利亚国家队助教，另外他还曾执教过埃因霍温、沃尔夫斯堡、安特卫普。
