毛主席曾在1931年6月，第三次反“围剿”前，对江西省石城县作出“石城是很要紧的”的判断。石城在1930至1934年间，全县13.6万余人中就有1.9万余人参加红军，最后走完长征到达陕北的红军战士仅剩73人，有名有姓的烈士4225人。（中经记者 颜世龙）
