近年来，离石区持续推进城市生态环境提质改造，将原电缆厂旧址废弃“天坑”区域进行综合整治，通过土方回填、管网铺设、绿化栽植、步道修建及健身设施配套，把曾经的城市闲置荒地改造为环境优美、功能完善的“口袋公园”，为周边群众打造了一处休闲健身、观景休憩的绿色公共空间，有效改善城区人居环境，提升城市“颜值”。
