4月1日，惠州市纪委监委发布消息，惠东县惠东高级中学原党委书记周刚涉嫌严重违纪违法，主动投案，目前正接受惠东县纪委监委纪律审查和监察调查。
2026年1月6日，是周刚最近一次公开露面，当天周刚还以惠东高级中学党委书记身份，出席惠东高级中学委员会共建签约仪式。

履历显示，2015年后，周刚先后任惠东高级中学副校长、惠东中学校长等职。2024年11月，周刚被免去惠东中学校长职务，后转任惠东高级中学党委书记。
