基德解释拉塞尔未进入轮换阵容，是因为想要球队“年轻化”。基德还表示拉塞尔做到了能做的一切，充分展现了“职业球员风范”。
自从1月11日在对阵公牛的比赛中登场后，拉塞尔已经连续7场比赛未获得出场机会了。
拉塞尔本赛季为独行侠出战26场比赛，场均10.2分2.3篮板4助攻。
