Nestled in Palo Alto, CA, USA, the Doerr Sustainability Accelerator is a transformative project by CAW Architects, continuing their long-standing partnership with Stanford University. Born from the renovation of a former campus publishing warehouse—once a dim, poorly insulated concrete structure with a fragmented layout—it now stands as a light-filled hub for sustainability innovation. The design breathes new life into the outdated space, aligning with the university’s mission to fast-track research into real-world solutions for urgent environmental challenges.

坐落于美国加利福尼亚州帕洛阿尔托，杜尔可持续发展加速器是 CAW 建筑师事务所的转型之作，延续了其与斯坦福大学的长期合作关系。项目源于校园内一座旧出版仓库的翻新 —— 这座建筑曾是昏暗、保温性差的混凝土结构，布局零散 —— 如今已蜕变为准自然光充盈的可持续创新中心。设计为老旧空间注入新生，与斯坦福大学加速探索全球紧迫环境问题实际解决方案的使命高度契合。

The renovation addressed the warehouse’s core flaws with thoughtful, cost-effective strategies. CAW Architects introduced large north-facing skylights, flooding the building’s core with natural light without the need for costly seismic upgrades. This design choice not only enhances energy efficiency but also creates a healthier, more inviting atmosphere—replacing the former gloom with a bright, open environment that nurtures creativity and focus. The skylights become a visual metaphor for clarity, symbolizing the accelerator’s goal of illuminating paths toward sustainable solutions.

The glass partitions promote transparency and connection, while the open flow of spaces breaks down silos—encouraging students, researchers, and external partners to exchange ideas freely. Every corner is designed to facilitate dialogue, reflecting the belief that solving complex sustainability issues requires collective wisdom.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this area serves as a catalyst for connection, creating opportunities for meaningful engagements that bridge academia and real-world impact. Complemented by a communal break room and informal gathering spots, the design balances productivity with comfort—ensuring that long hours of research are paired with moments of relaxation and casual collaboration.

入口区域被打造为以接待为核心的空间，为政策制定者、行业专家与投资者等访客营造出亲切的氛围。除了美学价值，这片区域更是联结的催化剂，为学术与现实影响搭建桥梁，创造富有意义的互动契机。搭配公共休息室与非正式聚集区，设计在高效产出与舒适体验间取得平衡 —— 确保长时间的研究工作之余，人们能拥有放松身心、自由协作的时刻。
