1月17日南部战区发布，南部战区新闻发言人田军里空军大校表示，近日，南部战区组织无人机位中国东沙岛附近空域进行正常飞行训练，完全正当合法。
据了解东沙岛距离台湾岛大约410公里，距离大陆最近处约260公里。东沙岛东西长约2800米，南北宽约700米，面积1.8平方公里。
