东营的石油大学全称是中国石油大学（华东）。是为了跟北京中国石油大学有所区分，由于东营城市规模比较小，知名度比较低，为了更好的扩大石油大学的影响力，有利于招生的考虑，石油大学很早就计划搬迁到青岛市，大约从二零零五年开始就在青岛市黄岛区建设新校区。离离拉拉的大约经过十多年搬迁，到二零一零左右搬迁完毕。
