必和必拓11月24日宣布，在与英美资源集团董事会初步磋商后确认，公司不再考虑两家公司合并事宜。
声明称，“尽管必和必拓仍然认为与英美资源集团的合并具有强大的战略优势，并能为所有利益相关者创造显著价值，但必和必拓对其自身有机增长战略的巨大潜力充满信心”。
必和必拓去年曾试图斥资490亿美元收购英美资源集团，但后者多次拒绝收购提议。
