据美国媒体CBS报道，加拿大空军一架CP-140“极光”巡逻机在东海上空活动，以执行联合国对朝鲜制裁的“霓虹行动”为名，对中国沿海进行抵近侦察。
中国空军随即出动苏-30MKK和歼-16战斗机，挂载2枚霹雳-15中远程空空导弹以及2枚霹雳-10近距格斗弹。甚至歼-16战机一度逼近至约60米距离伴飞，以坚定的姿态警示对方，展现了中方捍卫国家领空安全的决心与能力。
