近年来，南明区以城市更新行动为抓手，持续推进老旧小区改造工作，不断完善小区的功能配套设施，提升绿化水平，健全公共服务设施，为群众打造更加安全宜居的幸福家园，不断提升群众的幸福感。2025年，全区9个老旧小区片区改造项目已全面开工，工程进度达46%，20条背街小巷同步融入旧改实施；229.07公里地下管网已完成198.34公里。
