北京时间9月13日，在英超第4轮的比赛中，纽卡斯尔联夏窗末段花费7500万欧元引进的德国前锋沃尔特马德首发出场迎来首秀，并且在第29分钟头球破门，帮助喜鹊在主场1-0领先于狼队。
根据统计，现年23岁的沃尔特马德也就此成为了继1994年的克林斯曼(托特纳姆热刺)以及2016年的京多安(曼城)以来，历史上第三位在英超首秀中取得进球的德国球员。
