8月16日，中国台湾时事评论员、旺旺集团副董事长周锡玮在一档节目中表示，如果台湾地区还像过去一样想着讨好美国那就是“蠢上加蠢”。
周锡玮分析称，美国如今不断向台湾军售就是为了赚钱，因为美国卖再多的武器，台湾地区也无法与大陆抗衡。美国只是在把台湾地区吃干抹净，能榨多少钱就榨多少。
