战胜新西兰后，中国男篮队史第18次进入亚洲杯决赛，此前的17场决赛中，中国男篮取得16胜1负的傲人战绩，胜率高达94%。
中国男篮曾在1975年-1983年（第8届-第12届）、1987年-1995年（第14届-第18届）两次取得五连冠，在1999年-2005年（第20届-23届）取得四连冠，又在2011年和2015年夺冠。唯一一次决赛输球为2009年天津亚锦赛，中国男篮主场不敌伊朗男篮。
