当地时间8月4日，日本名古屋市市长广泽一郎在记者会上表示，希望与结为友好城市的中国南京市恢复交流。2012年，时任市长河村隆之发表了否认南京大屠杀的言论，中方提出抗议。两市的官方交流暂停至今。
