5月26日,中国国务院总理李强表示,中国愿与马来西亚共同努力,深化各领域交流与合作,并在相互尊重、相互信任、平等互利的原则下,携手开启双边关系新的“黄金五十年”,实现互利共赢。
他呼吁双方继续扩大贸易和投资合作,重点关注数字经济、绿色经济和人工智能等前沿领域,促进产业链、供应链和价值链的融合发展,并稳步推进“两国双园”和东海岸铁路等重大项目,为中马命运共同体注入强劲经济增长动力。
李强表示,中国将认真落实与马来西亚的互免签证协议,深化文化、教育、卫生、体育等领域的民间交流与合作,进一步加强中马命运共同体的民意纽带。
May 26,Chinese Premier Li Qiang said Monday that China is ready to work with Malaysia to deepen exchanges and collaboration across various fields,and jointly usher in a new"Golden 50 Years"for bilateral ties guided by the principles of mutual respect and trust,equality and mutual benefit for win-win outcomes.
He urged the two sides to continue expanding trade and investment cooperation with a focus on cutting-edge areas,including the digital economy,the green economy and artificial intelligence,promote the integrated development of industrial and supply chains and value chains,and steadily advance major projects such as the"Two Countries,Twin Parks"and the East Coast Rail Link,so as to strengthen the economic growth engine of the China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
China is ready to implement well the mutual visa exemption agreement with Malaysia,deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation in culture,education,health,sports and other fields,and strengthen the people-to-people bond of the China-Malaysia community with a shared future,Li said.

Malaysia announces tax incentives for Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone
吉隆坡(1月8日):财政部长周三表示,柔佛-新加坡特别经济区(JS-SEZ)的投资者有资格享受一系列激励措施,包括自1月1日起生效的特别企业税率。
根据声明,对符合资格的制造业和服务业(例如人工智能和量子计算供应链、医疗设备、航空航天制造以及全球服务枢纽)进行新投资的公司,将享受最高15年的5%特别税率。
财政部表示:“为了促进经济增长并提升国家的竞争力,JS-SEZ的税收激励套餐旨在吸引高价值投资进入柔佛州,以满足全球和国内投资者不断变化的需求。”

KUALA LUMPUR(Jan 8):Investors in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone(JS-SEZ)are eligible for a suite of incentives,including a special corporate tax rate that takes effect on Jan 1,the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.
Companies making new investments in qualifying manufacturing and services—such as in artificial intelligence and quantum computing supply chain,medical devices,aerospace manufacturing and global services hub—will enjoy a special tax rate of 5%for up to 15 years,according to a statement.
“In a bid to foster economic growth and enhance the nation’s competitive landscape,the tax incentive package for JS-SEZ is designed to drive high-value investments into Johor,tailored to meet the evolving needs of global and domestic investors,”the ministry said.
Besides that,additional tailor-made incentives are allocated to businesses operating in certain flagship areas in JS-SEZ.
And lastly,eligible knowledge workers working in JS-SEZ are entitled to a special tax rate of 15%for 10 years.
In addition to the tax incentive package,Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the Johor state government had agreed to introduce lower entertainment duties starting from Jan 1.

According to a report published by Bloomberg on June 22,the finalized trade negotiations between representatives from Malaysia and the US are expected to take place before the end of Trump’s 90-day window.In a statement,released on Sunday,from Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment,Trade and Industry,wrote that representatives from both countries“expressed their intent to finalize the negotiations…and agreed to intensify efforts to reach an agreement that would be mutually acceptable by key stakeholders from both countries.”A week before the statement was posted,trade officials from Malaysia had arrived in the US“to negotiate with Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and the Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick”to lower tariffs to what Anwar Ibrahim,Prime Minister of Malaysia,referred to as“excellent”.When President Trump initially announced his global tariffs on April,a 24%tariff was imposed on Malaysian goods;as part of the negotiations,“Malaysia is seeking to reduce the US charges to below 10%for sectors critical to both economies.”Other nations in the region that have also been negotiating talks to lower tariffs include Thailand and Vietnam.

An article published in Al Jazeera analyzes several negative impacts that President Trump’s tariffs that have had on the solar panel manufacturing industries in the Southeast Asian region–and which have received a significant amount of funding from Chinese producers.On Monday,it was announced by the US Customs and Border Protection that it“will begin imposing tariffs ranging from 375%to more than 3,500%on imports from Thailand,Cambodia,Vietnam and Malaysia.”Southeast Asia is responsible for outsourcing of what is roughly 80%of solar products purchased in the United States;according to the most recent trade data;“Thai solar exports to the US were worth more than$3/7bn in 2023.”The author notes that the duties are being implemented“in response to alleged unfair trade practices by Chinese-owned factories in the region.”It remains uncertain as to what the future of solar manufacturing will exactly look like but“some manufacturers have already begun shutting down and moving out of the region.”While a few analysts believe that the damage may be irreparable view,others speculate that“Chinese solar firms will drive the supply of products needed to meet regional emissions targets.”

Following a joint statement delivered by both the Malaysian Prime Minster,Anwar Ibrahim,and Indonesian President,Prabowo Subianto,an article was published in Antara News regarding their agreement“to strengthen domestic capabilities and enhance both countries’roles within ASEAN in addressing tariff challengers,including reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States.”The Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN)was formed in 1967 and is made up 10 member states and is an intergovernmental organization aimed at promoting“economic and security cooperation.”Anwar stressed in his speech that it was important for both nations to commit“to boosting bilateral investment”and“the need for close coordination to navigate current economic headwinds.”Responding to a point concerning continuing negotiations regarding Trump’s global tariffs,Anwar said,“…although there are bilateral interests,we continue to engage closely so that we can achieve the best possible outcomes in addressing these issues.”Currently,both countries share a strong bilateral trading relationship as“Indonesia remains Malaysia’s sixth-largest global trading partner and its second largest within Southeast Asia as of 2024.”
