在福建三明万寿岩遗址，考古人员发现了距今约4万年人工石铺地面。在石灰岩溶洞里，钟乳石不断滴水，为抬高地面，古人类在洞内铺设石子，并在靠近石壁的位置留出“U”字形排水沟槽，展现了古人类惊人的环境改造智慧。
