作为春天的第四个节气，这一天，太阳直射赤道，全球昼夜平分，故称“春分”。唐代诗人刘长卿在《春分》中写道：日月阳阴两均天，玄鸟不辞桃花寒。从来今日竖鸡子，川上良人放纸鸢。春分过后，日照时间逐渐延长，万物进入快速生长期，呈现出一派生机勃勃的景象。
At Spring Equinox, day and night are aligned. On this fourth Solar Term, the sun shines directly above the equator, bringing equal daylight and darkness worldwide, hence its name.
