佩顿表示：“当我接管了球队后，我让每个人都理解了我们必须要让韦德成为核心，其他人都要接受自己的角色，沙克也需要退居其次。
“之后我们连续赢了15场、16场比赛，我们成为强队，等到赛季快结束时，我们大概是东部第4，那时候我知道我们会夺冠的。”
