据现场画面显示，2月28日，在仁爱礁非法“坐滩”的菲律宾军舰马德雷山号冒出浓烟，疑似在焚烧垃圾，严重威胁仁爱礁附近海域的生态环境。
有报告指出，由于该军舰长期在仁爱礁非法“坐滩”，已严重损害仁爱礁珊瑚礁生态系统的多样性、稳定性和持续性。
