On February 16, the "World Wetlands Day" and mangrove protection publicity event in Guangdong was held at Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park. The new global species, "Haizhu Micro Ladybug", was unveiled. Discovered during the 2022 insect survey in Haizhu Wetland, the finding was published in the international journal "Zootaxa". Measuring 1.2-1.3 mm, it has specific features. This is the first discovery of the Coccidulidae family in China. Since 2020, Haizhu Wetland has cooperated with the Institute of Zoology to survey insects. The discovery of new species affirms the wetland's ecological restoration. Guangdong, rich in wetland resources, is strengthening wetland protection. The event also included releasing wetland lists, launching a knowledge competition on mangroves.
