近日，在世界政府峰会上，马斯克谈及他的公司The Boring Company时表示，地下隧道常见的日常用途是解决城市交通拥堵。解决交通拥堵的办法就是让道路三维化。我们可以往空中发展，也可以往地下发展。飞行汽车当然也是个思路，但飞行器通常噪音大、风力冲击也大，还有坠落风险，会让人很不安。再加上恶劣天气时，飞行交通往往停运。他认为，相较之下地下隧道就没有这些问题，而且在地震中，地下隧道往往是最安全的地方。
