1月13日，澳网男单首轮，11号种子、前赛会亚军西西帕斯以5-7、3-6、6-2、4-6不敌美国小将米克尔森，时隔7年再度遭遇一轮游。
前两盘，西西帕斯都在盘末关键的发球局被对手破发，第三盘6-2扳回一盘后，第四盘前八局双方各自两次破发，第九局，西西帕斯的关键发球局再度被破，最终4-6再输一盘止步首轮。
西西帕斯成为本届澳网首位出局的男单种子选手。
