The top five IPs dominating China's cultural landscape in 2024 are Joy of Life, Black Myth: Wukong, Soul Land, The Three-Body Problem, and Battle Through the Heavens. These standout properties lead the China Cultural Industry IP Influence Report (2024), released on December 29 by the Creative Industries Technology Research Institute at Renmin University of China.
The report evaluates IPs across four dimensions—perception, dissemination, development, and expansion—to create a comprehensive ranking of the top 50 IPs in cultural industries for 2024.
According to the findings, literature remains a dominant source for IP adaptations, with 50 percent of the top 50 IPs originating as literary works, over 80 percent of which stem from online literature. The report also highlights the significant "amplifier" effect of film and television on IP value. Among the top 50, 76 percent are either originally developed for film and television or have undergone adaptations for these mediums.
