Winter Solstice is a very important solar term in Chinese Lunar calendar, as the saying goes in ancient China: "Winter Solstice is as significant as the New Year." Winter Solstice marks the day with the shortest daylight and the longest night of the year. And the arrival of Winter Solstice marks the official start of the coldest days. At this time, we should keep warming by eating some warm and nutritious food, and wearing more clothes. In the northern regions of China, people like to eat dumplings on this day to celebrate the Winter Solstice. In some southern areas, it's customary to eat tangyuan or rice cakes for the Winter Solstice Festival.
