朱仙镇木版年画在用色上特别讲究，颜料都是用矿物和植物做的，还得手工磨制，磨出来的颜料颜色特别纯正。用这些颜料印出来的年画，色彩鲜艳又明快，而且颜色持久不褪。这枚邮票上画的是凤、香、兰三位女侠的飒爽英姿，故事来自历史小说《施公案》。
