北京时间7月15日，德国老将托马斯-穆勒宣布退出德国国家队，结束14年国家队生涯。
2010年3月3日，在德国与阿根廷的友谊赛中，时年21岁的托马斯-穆勒在这场比赛中首发出场，同时这场比赛也是托马斯-穆勒在德国国家队的首秀，而在比赛第67分钟，他被托尼-克罗斯换下。
如今，34岁的托马斯-穆勒退出了德国国家队，而34岁的克罗斯则在本届欧洲杯结束后选择了退役。
