2024年1月31日，美国纽约州参议院通过了S3529A法案，旨在从2025年1月起禁止销售或分发含有全氟和多氟烷基物质(PFAS)等潜在有害化学物质的女性卫生用品，同时涉及香料、着色剂、染料、防腐剂或其他有意添加有害成分的上游企业也不得销售含有此类化学物质的产品。有害成分参照如下：
禁止且不限于的成分：
- 全氟和多氟烷基物质(PFAS)
- 甲醛（formaldehyde）
- 滑石粉（talc）
- 邻苯二甲酸二丁酯（Dibutyl phthalate）
- 邻苯二甲酸二(2-乙基己基）酯（di(2)exylhexyl phthalate）
- 甲苯（toluene）
- 三氯生（triclosan）
- 对羟基苯甲酸异丁酯、异丙酯、丁酯和丙酯（isobutyl-, isopropyl-, butyl- and propylparaben）
- 丁苯基甲基丙醛（butylphenyl methylpropional）
- 汞及其化合物（mercury and related compounds）
- 铅（lead）
