8月18日，随着湘西边城机场的通航，对于曾经边远的十八洞村村民来说，在家门口打“飞的”，只需两个多小时就能到首都北京了。

On August 18, with the opening oftheXiangxi Biancheng Airport, the villagers of the once remote Shibaodong village, can take a plane at their “doorstep” and reach the capital Beijing in just over two hours.

次日清晨，65位村民一同前往天安门广场观看了升国旗仪式。村民们纷纷拿出手机，记录下这一激动人心的时刻。

The following morning, 65 peasants gathered in Tiananmen Square to witness the national flag-raising event. The folks grabbed their cell phones to capture this exciting moment.

他们中有七八十岁的老人，也有十多岁的孩子。对于其中很多人来说，只需两个小时便能便捷地“飞”到首都，曾是他们想都不敢想的事，十八洞村曾是深度贫困村，周围群山环绕，交通极其不便。随着“精准扶贫”实施以来，让这一切成为可能。

20日，首航北京的十八洞村民们返家了，他们由衷地感叹“世界与湘西更近了，我们在十八洞村等您来！”
