抗战时期，老百姓向八路军送来农产品来表示慰问。然后就出现了图中的场景“送的非要送，收的不肯收”。
当时的情形是：老百姓们发现自己吃的比八路军战士都要好，于是纷纷送来农产品慰问军队。迫于老百姓的执著，有很多时候，八路军们都是收下了慰问品，最后有一部分又会被八路军战士们分发给更贫苦的老百姓，在当时鸡蛋和鸡都是极其贵重的物品呢。
