2019年11月，联合国教科文组织在第40届大会上将每年的3月14日定为国际数学节（the International Day of Mathematics, 简称IDM）。
为什么把国际数学节选在3月14日这一天呢？
对，跟圆周率π有关，π精确到小数点后两位是3.14。国际数学联盟（ the International Mathematical Union, 简称IMU）多年来一直致力于推动“π day”（即“圆周率节”），2020年3月14日成了世界各国共同庆祝的第一个国际数学节。
每年的数学节都会有一个主题，2023年国际数学节的主题是：给每一个人的数学。
