The textile printing world is changing. Higher demands towards increased sustainability, improved industrial hygiene, less production waste and a fully digital manufacturing process are clearly recognisable. For innovative businesses along the textile value chain – including brands, OEMs, ink manufacturers and raw material suppliers – digital printing is a logical next step while further offering a more granular control of production processes and a greater flexibility to react to changing demands.

Looking at state-of-the-art of printing technologies for textiles, screen printing as an analogue technology is still predominant in the industry and has largely reached its full potential. With proven and established processes come mature material solutions. Opposing to that, digital textile printing as a new and yet unproven disruptive technology requires advanced formulations and, more often than not, forces a revaluation of the suitability of standard raw materials employed.
A material of choice for printed textiles is polyurethane due to its high flexibility, soft hand feel and excellent light fastness. Can this proven and highly versatile material class be successfully employed to solve the challenges of digital textile printing? This question will be answered by highlighting a toolbox based on Covestro's INSQIN® technology. You will be shown how to create aqueous pigment inks with soft hand feel and elevated fastness by using a polyurethane and isocyanate raw materials in order to accelerate the shift from analogue to digital textile printing.

There is a major difference between building up a real and concrete sustainability path – made of a shared belief, dedication, knowledgeable resources and commitment – and merely talking about sustainability, which can result in “greenwashing.”

多年来，纺织数码印花技术的发展有了根本性的提升。它因其有效的印刷过程而受到拥护，该过程可以节省水、能源和劳动力。

Over the years, textile digital printing technology has seen fundamental improvements in its development. It has been championed for its effective printing process which saves water, energy and labour.

However, though the digital printing technology has evolved, there is still room for more improvements. Over the years, new technologies have been introduced, however, they have been regarded as being illogical without testing them or trying them out. In the same vein, others have tried these new methods and found them to be effective. Realizations have been that these new technologies have positive effects because they reduce the cost of production and do not compromise the quality of the products.

As the results of these digital printing technologies reduce costs and promote efficiency, screen printing factories can be motivated to adopt these technologies.

This presentation will showcase real production data to evidence how effective and eco friendly digital printing is and how scientific its ergonomics are. Meanwhile, it gives samples to show how fast the Chinese local high speed digital printing machine is. It also shows how the consumables such as inks developed.
