麻城经济开发区已发展成为麻城对外开放的窗口。目前，开发区入园企业230余家，投产工业企业158家，其中规模以上企业56家、高新技术企业41家，已形成汽车零部件、电子信息、冶金机械、轻工纺织、新材料、生物技术等六大产业集群，汽车零部件制造企业35家、电子信息与新材料企业16家，高端装备制造创新型产业集群获批省级创新型产业集群，战略性新兴产业发展势头强劲。
