1993年8月31日，中国第一座引进外资、设备和技术建设的大型核电站——广东大亚湾核电站一号机组并网发电成功，它也是中国第一座大型商业核电站。
此后，大亚湾核电站成为改革开放的标志以及中国人自主创新、勇于探索的典范，中国核电以此为起点逐渐实现了走向世界的梦想。
