酥油花是塔尔寺“艺术三绝”（酥油花、壁画、堆绣）之一，于2006年被列入首批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。记者获准探访塔尔寺酥油花制作基地——上、下花院看到，两个花院的艺僧扎骨架、制胎、敷塑……以酥油为原料精雕细捏而成的亭台楼阁、飞禽走兽跃然花架之上，两尊主佛面庞白皙、神态安详。马铭言 摄
