1月3日消息，五角大楼发布消息称，美防长劳埃德·奥斯汀新冠病毒检测结果呈阳性。
奥斯汀通报称，“今天早晨，我的新冠病毒检测结果呈阳性。我在家休假时出现症状，今天要求检测。我属于轻症，会遵医嘱。按照医嘱和美国疾病控制与预防中心（CDC）的建议，未来5天我将居家隔离。”
奥斯汀指出，他计划尽可能地以虚拟形式参加关键会谈和讨论，保留自己的所有权限。
