直上直下的T形地漏芯和铅坠式一样，也有一个挡水板，有水时挡水板弹开，没水时就自动关上，不同的是它是由弹簧或磁铁控制。
因为挡水板的闭合紧密性，T型会比水封地漏更能挡住下水道的小飞虫，而且下水速度快。
