北京时间今天（19日）上午，中国留学生郑少雄的追思会在芝加哥大学校内洛克菲勒纪念教堂举行，郑少雄的母亲李蓉在追思会上发言。
11月9日，刚毕业的24岁中国留学生郑少雄，在芝加哥大学校园外遭遇抢劫。对方持枪索要财物，郑少雄在冲突中胸部中弹，被送往芝加哥大学医学中心后伤重不治。
Loved ones and fellow University of Chicago scholars memorialized Zheng Shaoxiong on campus Thursday, celebrating his innovative, giving spirit while mourning his violent death last week. The 24-year-old was killed during a robbery Nov 9 in Hyde Park. He was honored Thursday afternoon with a public memorial at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.

Zheng's mother, Li Rong, was one of the last to take the podium. She wore a black coat and a scarf. As she spoke, in Mandarin, some bowed their heads as tears began to fall. She was steady with her words. 郑少雄的母亲李蓉身着黑色外衣、围着围巾，最后一个步入会场。她说话时，人们低着头流下了眼泪。她的声音很坚定。

"I went abroad for the first time in my life not to attend your graduation ceremony, let alone your wedding celebration, but to attend your funeral,” she said. “You said you wanted to take me to see the world. You wanted me to witness your dreams. You wanted us to look forward to the future together."
承受着巨大悲痛，郑少雄的母亲声音有些许颤抖，但还是完整地进行了发言，“……人们说能够处处发光的人就是天使，苍天啊！求求你把我的天使还给我吧。……就在惨遭枪杀的前两天，我还收到你从芝加哥寄来的一瓶香水，这是你给妈妈的生日礼物。今天我远渡重洋来到你身边，我用了你买给我的香水，我相信你能闻到这个味道，闻到妈妈的味道，你知道妈妈来接你回家了。”
"They say that someone who shines everywhere is an angel," she said in Chinese. "Please, God, give my angel back."
郑少雄母亲李蓉在发言中还提到，感谢所有提供帮助、给予关怀的人。她说，悲剧发生后，是人间真情温暖了她几乎僵死的身体。
她同时也表示，陪同她来的还有千千万万的妈妈，大家以母亲的名义，呼吁有关方面切实保护每个留学生的安全，严惩凶手。
“亲爱的儿子，陪同我来的还有千千万万个妈妈，还有千千万万的亲人，我们共同悲泣，我们共同愤怒，我们共同要求严惩凶手，为此我以母亲的名义强烈地呼吁切实保护每个留学生的安全，绝不能让悲剧重演，这是给千万个留学生的交代，也是千万个家庭的交代。” "Countless mothers and families are standing by. We all share the same grief and anger, and call for severe punishment for the murderer."
一年内两同胞被枪杀

11月9日下午，刚从芝加哥大学毕业的郑少雄在该大学附近人行道行走时遭遇歹徒持枪抢劫，胸部中弹，送医后不治身亡。
Zheng Shaoxiong was on a sidewalk at around 1:54 pm (1954 GMT) on Nov 9 when a man took out a gun, demanded property, and shot him in the chest, before he was taken to the UChicago Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hundreds of University of Chicago students on Tuesday protested the recent shooting death of recent graduate Zheng Shaoxiong and demanded more safety measures be put in place for university attendees. Protesters carried signs that read, "We are here to learn, not to die," and, "Stop gun violence," as FOX 32 Chicago first reported.

Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown announced on Nov 12 that Alton Spann, 18, has been charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon in Zheng's death. After allegedly committing armed robbery and murder, police said Spann pawned his victim's stolen electronics for just $100.

值得注意的是，芝加哥犯罪率长期以来居高不下。
今年以来，已经至少有三名芝大学生遭到枪杀，其中两名是中国留学生。
今年年初，芝大博士、中国留学生范轶然，在校园附近的公寓停车场遭枪杀；今年7月，20岁的芝大大三学生马克斯·路易斯搭乘地铁返回校园途中，被从车窗窜入的流弹打中颈部，不治身亡。
Zheng was the third University of Chicago student killed in less than a year. In January, Chinese national Fan Yiran, a 30-year-old PhD student, was shot and killed when Jason Nightengale went on a killing spree from Chicago's South Side to Evanston, in the outer urban area of the city. In July, Max Lewis was fatally struck by a stray bullet while riding on the Chicago Transit Authority Green Line near 51st Street.
