1935年8月1日，中国共产党驻共产国际代表团草拟了《为抗日救国告全体同胞书》（即八一宣言）。10月1日，以中华苏维埃中央政府和中共中央的名义在巴黎《救国报》上正式发表，号召全国人民团结起来，停止内战，抗日救国。宣言对推动抗日统一战线工作和抗日救亡运动，起了积极作用。
