12月21日19时许，一群众报警称白云湖三桥大坝湖中疑似有一具尸体漂浮。
接警后，西城派出所民警邓闯带出警队员迅速赶赴现场，发现湖中老人的身体有轻微抖动，邓闯立即组织在场人员手拉手下水到湖中将老人救起。上岸后老人逐渐恢复意识，随后民警将老人抬上赶到的救护车送往医院救治。
