I-dog
In the piece “I-dog”, Sheldon was inspired by the CCTV camera system. In this system the security cameras in a small area feed information to local monitors, likely to a observation room. Similar to how the senses all send information to the brain in an organism. These cameras are constantly recording, the artist imagine a creature living behind the glass inside the camera.
“Diner” depicts a closed down family-style restaurant. While traveling to Chicago on route 60, Sheldon observed the towns one the side of the high ways, almost all composed of a main street with two gas stations, a McDonald’s, and not too far away a Walmart. While taking a detour for gas this building was observed, like the suburban malls, it felt like the hallmark of a passing era.
Sheldon's observation and thinking of "body" jumped out of the boundaries of species. In his works, human, animals, plants and even monsters, whether "they" are the same kind creatures are no longer important, because they are all "living beings".

Artist
