高平镇位于县境东北，距县城70公里，面积158.55平方千米（2017年），人口67341人（2017年）。亦曾叫“高坪”。现仍有许多乡人，习惯写成“高坪”。位于隆回东北部的她，东临新邵，北连新化，东望邵阳。
