[拓展]rather than“宁可；是……而不是……”，连接各种并列成份，在语气上肯定前面否定后面。也可写成would…rather than; rather than…would…,相当于instead of,如：

He ranrather thanwalked.他跑步而不是步行。

They lost famerather thanwealth.他们失去的不是财富，而是名誉。

He would dierather thangive in.=Rather than give in he would die.他宁死不屈。

These shoes are comfortablerather thanpretty.这双鞋不好看但穿起来很舒服。

Shewould ratherbe poorthando that.她宁愿受穷也不愿那样做。

考点3. hope / wish/ want / expect

【用法精讲】

Ihopeto be a doctor.我希望当一名医生。

Ihopeshe will be well again.我希望她会痊愈。

Wehopeto see you again．（= We hope we can see you again．）我希望能再次见到你。

IwishI could fly to the moon in a spaceship one day.但愿有一天我能坐宇宙飞船飞向月球。

Wewishto visit Yanan.我希望能参观延安。

Wewishyou to be happy.我希望你幸福。

Iwishyou a long life.祝你长寿。

Shewantsme to do with her.他想要我跟她一起。

We areexpectinga letter from her.我们当时正期待着她的来信。
