根据新西兰统计局最新公布的数据显示，在新西兰结婚的同性伴侣中，有一半来自海外。 在2016年，共有954对同性情侣在新西兰婚姻或民事结合，其中471对来自于海外，占比近半。与此同时，从海外来新西兰结婚的异性恋人士，只占异性婚姻登记总数的11%。在那些来新西兰结婚的海外同性恋人中，来自澳大利亚的占58%，来自中国的同性伴侣占17%。
