35m won t get you Cesc
MANCHESTER UNITED have been told not to waste their time by making a THIRD bid for Cesc Fabregas.
The Premier League champions are considering a 35million swoop for the Spanish midfielder after Barcelona rejected their improved offer of 31m.
But Fabregas Nou Camp team-mate Gerard Pique warned: “United are wasting their time.
“It took a long time for Cesc to get his dream move back home and he won t give it up. This is home, it is where his family is, and he is playing with his closest friends.
“He has told us he is happy and that he intends to stay with Barcelona.”
United s initial 26m bid for former Arsenal star Fabregas was rejected by Barca last week.
And the response was the same when Old Trafford chief executive Ed Woodward returned with an increased amount of 31m.
Now United s board must decide whether to go back in for the 26-year-old and test Barcelona s resolve by upping the ante again.
Boss David Moyes said: “I think a point does come but when you are interested in good players you want to give it every opportunity to materialise — and I ll do that.
“I ll hope that things can continue to move forward.”
United are also interested in landing Gareth Bale from Tottenham and have tried to get Cristiano Ronaldo back.
But Old Trafford fans are getting anxious about the prospect of missing out on a big name altogether.
Moyes said: “I can understand why that might be the feeling.
“I can only tell you that Ed Woodward is working hard to make the deals happen and we re hoping some of them will fall into place shortly.”
