本义是「四仰八叉地躺着」，也用来形容城市、建筑等 spreading over a wide area in an untidy or unattractive way「向四周无序扩展的」。

sprawling 在这里却是用来形容帖子篇幅很长，涉及很多细节，不能简单地理解为 long。因此，a sprawling social media post 可译为「一篇冗长、庞杂的社交媒体帖子」。

2️⃣ dowry/ˈdaʊəri/

这个词蛮有意思，既可以指新娘的「嫁妆，陪嫁」‍♀️，也指新郎一方的「彩礼」。不过多数指前者。如果说「彩礼」，英文更常用 bride price 或 bridewealth。

5️⃣ a sticking point

这是一个固定表达，指双方在讨论、谈判时无法达成一致、导致事情停滞的关键问题，即 something that people do not agree on and that prevents progress in a discussion「分歧点，症结」。为什么嘞？因为 stick 这个动词有「卡住」的意思。孙景双方因5000万美元的要求无法达成一致，关系由此破裂，所以这笔钱成了 a sticking point。
