根据名记Shams的报道，掘金、骑士、快船进行了一笔三方交易，沃特森（先签后换一份4年8800万美元的合同，包括球员选项和交易保证金）前往骑士，斯特鲁斯加盟快船，而掘金得到了骑士2031年的首轮签和国王2032年的次轮签。
根据此前美记Brett Siegel的报道，如果沃特森接受650万美元的资质报价，掘金的奢侈税账单将飙升至1.1亿美元以上，如果他接受掘金每年1800万美元的报价，税单将增至2亿美元左右。
