8月19日，记者从四川省长宁县应急管理局获悉，8月18日17时30分许，长宁县硐底镇新堡村一村民在家中院坝为子女举办升学宴，因临时搭建的雨棚积水过多，绳索拉力过大，导致用于固定雨棚的一楼房顶女儿墙墙体倒塌，造成3人现场死亡，2人送医后抢救无效死亡，另有17名伤者正在医院接受治疗。
目前，当地正全力救治伤员并开展善后处置工作。
