据CCTV国际时讯8月15日报道，当地时间8月14日下午，美国总统特朗普在纽约州加登城一场活动上发表演讲时敦促美国人“接受更高的汽油价格”，将其作为“阻止伊朗获得核武器需要付出的代价”。
特朗普还称，“在我们将伊朗击败之后……很快我就要宣布霍尔木兹海峡为美国的领土。”目前尚不清楚他此番言论的严肃程度。
