一、一句话先记牢
succeed in = 成功做成某事
succeed to = 继承（王位、头衔、财产等）
这两个短语就差一个介词，意思天差地别。in 后面跟的是"在哪方面成功"，to 后面跟的是"继承了什么东西"。
二、逐个拆解，讲清讲透
1. succeed in：成功地做某事
succeed in 表示"在某事上获得成功"，后面接名词或动名词（doing）。这是最常用的用法，也是大家最熟悉的。
结构：
· succeed in + 名词（在某领域成功）
· succeed in + doing（成功做成某事）
例句：
· Without experience, do you think such a young man can succeed in this trade？
（没有经验，你认为这样的年轻人能在这个行业成功吗？）
· At last the climbers succeeded in conquering the difficult mountain.
（登山者们终于成功征服了那座险峰。）

注意： succeed 是不及物动词，后面必须加 in 才能接宾语。
2. succeed to：继承（千万别译成"成功到……"）
succeed to 的意思是"继承"，指在某人去世或离任后，继承人接替财产、地位、头衔、王位等。这里的 succeed 是不及物动词，to 是介词，后面接名词。
结构：
· succeed to + 财产/头衔/王位/职位
例句：
· The present Queen succeeded to the throne upon the death of her father.
（现任女王在其父亲去世后继承了王位。）
· If the duke has no children, who will succeed to his property？
（如果公爵没有子女，谁将继承他的财产？）
· Prince William will succeed to the throne of Britain.
（威廉王子将继承英国王位。）
关键区别： 如果你想说"他成功当上国王"，英语是 He succeeded in becoming king。如果说 He succeeded to the king，意思就变成了"他继承了国王的……（某样东西）"，甚至可能被理解为"他继任了国王的位置"——完全两码事！
三、一张图分清所有用法
⚠️ 注意：succeed 还可以作及物动词，直接接人，表示"继任某人、接替某人"。比如 Frank will succeed his father as president（弗兰克将接替他父亲担任总裁）。这跟 succeed to 的区别在于：succeed + 人（接替谁），succeed to + 物（继承什么）。
